Issue still persists but is definitely better after Vanos solenoids change and oil and filter change.

I have adapted driving style to accommodate so am not 'looking' for the problem all the time. Annoying.

Local BMW dealer - who I get on really well with, have advised me to live with it unless it gets worse as they could quite likely strip all the manifold system down/attack the vanos and still not cure the fault. They said dont spend anymore until it throws up codes/gets worse - I'd be wasting my money with no guarantee of success.

Love to cure it - but it seems to be a trait I might have to live with.

Needs rear tyres soon - so money required for those instead!

Sounds like a vacuum leak / CCV issue to me as well

OP, check the intake cam sensor. I would probably change it since you have changed the exhaust cam sensor. Next would be the electric fuel pump and fuel filter.

So far so good - the issue appears to be RESOLVED! I have had the DISA valve replaced in the inlet manifold and the dead throttle issue on full power is gone. Early days yet, but I drove it back home
averaging 42mpg! I tried all the way back to replicate the hesitation and couldn't do it. Here's hoping I've fixed it! The indie I used was top drawer - couldn't recommend enough. DISA was £190 plus labour and VAT.
