Would these flaps and this issue also apply to a 2004 525d? Cheers.

I have a 2004 525d also, I removed mine following Anzafins write up.

I dont know whether there have been any failures with the 525d flaps, I wasnt willing to take the chance.

2004 530D 59,900 flpas not removed, no major engine issues.

07/2004 525dse 75000 miles, still got flaps but planning to remove asap, got the screws and stuff
just need to find time, no major engine probs, also going to do egr thermostat, crankcase vent,
air filter, clean maf and egr might as well seen as i have to pull it to bits anyway

Mass air flow, basically it is just after you air filter and it measures the airflow in to the engine. Exhaust gas recirculation thermostat, I was surprised by this actually existing I had never heard of this before i didnt think the egr needed cooling with coolant.

To find out if it is faulty you need to take it off, if you can blow air through it then its faulty. There is a post on this in more detail.
