Glad you guy's are getting your 520d's sorted, must admit that it took mine a few hundred miles to settle down after the software upgrade, also I still get a slight hestation now and again but this is when the particle fillter is regenerating and it is still ever so slight. The car has got a lot better since passing that magic 10,000mile mark.

Breaking news:
Got the car back; so what they did was they uptdated the DME (Digital Motor Electronics) software apparently controlling the EGR (?) Valves (is this correct ?): these valves function especially at low RPMs and the DME is responsible for controlling how much unburt gases are brought back to the engine (please tell me if I got that correctly....)... Now this software upgrade has of course nothing to do with the CIP software version.
And apparently, some 4 cylinder diesel engines, even 2006 series, still leave the factory without being correctly tuned....

Well, just went 30 miles till then, and everything seems to work correctly... I'll be cruising some 400 miles over the week end and you bet I will test the engine, at both low and high RPMs.... Just to have a look !!!

Thanks for your help ! Everything seems to confirm that the dealer could be right ! Just wait and see !

That's great news. Hopefully it stays that way now...

Thanks for these information.

Four CIP upgrades in less than one year and something can still be upgraded in my car !

I'm an IT manager and I don't upgrade my servers as frequently as my car.
