just for reassurance to all existing 5 series owners
just been down to my local dealer, where a member of the family works (well its 150km
away in Plovdiv, but thats not a great matter)... had a sneaky peak at BMW's production
schedule for the next 14 months (until week 9 february 2007)
There will be no interruptions in the current e60 model (so no facelift)
There will be no engine additions...
The 535d should receive a minor 23Bhp power increase starting week 14, 2007 (not finalized)

well see he only saw up to FEB 2007... now look a little further to Aug 2007 when they shut down the plant and put in new equipment to make MY08's in Sept 2007... THATs when the facelift is.

Ya I remember seeing it but I dont remember the details... its wasnt a leaked schedule... its a published schedule that was in some analysis book of some sort. Some of the time line didnt make sense... It said they wernt going to have a MINI Cooper S for like 8 months. I doubt thats going to happen. the S is a HUGE HUGE seller.

The 7 is getting markedly cleaned up for the coming year (07); I'd assume the 5 is next.

Well, E65 came out in 2001, and E60 in 2004. E65 has already had its facelift (MY2006, 5 model years after introduction). Also, what do you mean "cleaned up"?
I personally doubt that E60 will be refreshed for MY2007; I believe it will be MY2008 (Sept 2007). If it follows E65, it would actually be MY2009 (Sept 2008).

I agree with "Enjoy today, don't worry about tomorrow" philosophy. Nevertheless, I still feel for those, my personal friend included, whom have bought their MY05 530i and then weeks later, found out that MY06 530i with the new engine was available for ordering. He told me that he felt like having just bought a brand new "used car"
I for instance, had the opportunity to enjoy my 545i for whole 3 month's before the 750i was announced. I knew right away that 550i was imminent. Suddenly, my dream of trading up my car in 3 years became much more expensive due to abrupt depreciation associated with major model change. No sir, I was not amused.

Carpe diem, I say.
Buy it today, drive it today and (most importantly) enjoy it today.
There's always going to be something new (e.g. facelift, bigger engine, different options, new colors, etc.). If you end up waiting for the next "new" thing you'll end up waiting for the rest of your life.
Now, that would no fun, right?

Regarding the facelift, I have heard lots of rumors regarding the 330i being replaced with a 335i in 2007(?) with about 300-310bhp vs. the current 255. Has anyone heard whether this engine will replace the 530i's?
One would assume an engine change in Sept 2007 (coincident with the facelift) would be very soon given the just-updated engine in the 2006 530i. However, this does make sense as:
1) The 2006 engine change was necessary given the competition, plus a 530i having less bhp than a 330i is irrational.
2) With the new 550i, there is a huge horsepower gap (360 vs. 255) that needs to be addressed and from discussions on this board, the U.S. does not seem to be getting a 540i.
Any thoughts?
