4F8A 4F88 54C3 and more Transmission issue galore
Hello All,
Been searching and reading great posts regarding the transmission problems in our 07 530xi e61 .with 207 k miles on it. For a while had the ABS, 4x4, brake lights on and have replaced steering wheel sensor in steering column, and transfer case actuator motor (aftermarket) but things have been getting worse, not better. Yesterday while wife was driving to work transmission fault came on and went into limp mode and gear shifts were wacky. Battery was replaced recently too ( have not had the chance to register it, but they told me its ok to be done a little later)
It had the mechatronic sleeves and oil pan serviced under 100k miles, and now pulling these codes: 2AD0, 4F8A, 4F88 also 54C6, 54C3, 55C6, 55DO and 54C8.
My wife reminded me that about a year ago while driving she reached for her pocketbook and the strap caught the gear selector and she thought pulled it sideways, then heard grinding in gearbox, warning lights came on etc. After she pulled over and restarted seemed better but has not been the same since she said.
So the question is, should I try to rebuild the Mechatronics and solenoid bank with new fluid and new pan or seal- or try to find a used transmission and try to start over with that?
Thoughts or idea's greatly appreciated-
Jamie

2AD0- Check engine light assuming associated with the limp mode event the other day
4F8A- EGS Ratio monitoring gearshift 4-5
4F88- EGS Ratio monitoring gearshift 2-3
54C6- VTG oil wear
55C3- VTG AWD limp mode activated no DSC specified
55C6- Wheel speed 0xCE error, receiver VTG
55D0- Steering wheel angle 0xC4, receiver VTG, transmitter DSC
54C8- VTG classification resistor ( this one comes back on immediately after clearing codes)
Checking the records on it, the mech sleeve only was replaced besides the pan and seal with 89k miles in 2012 ( not the valve). After start up, ABS, 4x4 and brake lights on, then they go off as soon as start driving- and return in about 15 seconds and stay on.

Seems to be more of transfer case issue than a transmission issue. Sometimes codes appear because of other issues. Do a search for transfer case codes.
