I scratched the rims last night on my 2 month old 2008 550. I am reallyu pset about this especially since it happened in the middle of a date with a girl I have been after for a long time. Everythign was going great and it was almost the end of the night and I scratch my rims while driving.

I wanted to cry and I was mad the entire night. I hate to have been that away around my friends, but I couldn't help it.

The two rims on the passenger side are scratched. it's not HORIBBLE, but it's pretty bad.

Any suggestions on where I can get that fixed in the North Jersey/ New York area?

How much do you think it will run?
Also, I still don't have tire and wheel insurance. Should I go to BMW and get this or is there any other place that is better?

I just had a conversation with Auto Club. Their plan cost only $27.95 a year and will cover up to $350 per tire and $350 per rims for up to $1400 a year. Your can open an account online at http://theautoclub.com/

Anyone had good/bad pervious experience with them?

Just keep in mind that usually tire & wheel packages will cover only damage due to road hazards, so curbing a wheel will not be covered.

I purchased the Auto Club tire and wheel insurance back in April 2007 based on the recommendation by JSpira . Got a nail in my Dunlop RFT in May. Purchased the tire from Tirerack and had my dealer mount/balance. Send all the paperwork to the Auto Club for process. I received a check for $350.00 in two week.

There are vendors that dealer can recommend to repair the wheels. They will look like new again. It is impossible to avoid dings and scratches on the wheels. Scratching your wheels was inevitable. No big deal to fix.

Okay, I'm about to order the tire/wheel insurance package from theautoclub.com but I want to double check things. Am I correct that I only need to purchase the "Advantage Tire & Wheel Protection" package? ($27.95/yr or $2.50/mo) When does the coverage go into effect? To make a claim, do you simply send them receipts or do you have to get approval first, etc.?

I'm bummed I didn't do this a month ago since I've already had to buy one tire due to a pothole hidden on a railroad crossing...

Bummer but not the end of the world. Talk to your service advisor at the dealer. They have connections to folks that will fix them good as new. It runs about $60/wheel. Do not let this drag you down.

I am assuming this girl had you all sorts of distracted for you to smash up your wheels. Other than the accident I hope you both had a great time together in your new ride!

You only need the Advantage Tire & Wheel Protection for $27.95 a year. Your coverage will be affective within a week. Their program is a reimbursement plan so you'll need their claim form before you go to fix the damage. Their representative mentioned to me over the phone that I should have a copy of their claim form in the car then I don't need to call in advanced.

I hope this helps.

Thanks, now im feeling better about my right front 166 wheel that I curbed last month. I had it fixed the next week. It looks fine but the finish is rougher than my pristine 166's. Still wish I hadn't done it.
