I scratched the rims last night on my 2 month old 2008 550. I am reallyu pset about this especially since it happened in the middle of a date with a girl I have been after for a long time. Everythign was going great and it was almost the end of the night and I scratch my rims while driving.

I wanted to cry and I was mad the entire night. I hate to have been that away around my friends, but I couldn't help it.

The two rims on the passenger side are scratched. it's not HORIBBLE, but it's pretty bad.

Any suggestions on where I can get that fixed in the North Jersey/ New York area?

How much do you think it will run?

Also, I still don't have tire and wheel insurance. Should I go to BMW and get this or is there any other place that is better?

Thanks J. You are the best. I'm going to have to take you out on a lunch or something because you seem to have all the answers for me!

I'm pretty sure insurance won't cover scratches only cracked/bent rims. These rims can be easily and inexpensively fixed like new . Good luck

I feel your pain. A few months ago I had to go with my wife to pick up the in-laws to the airport. While I was coming out of the POS Hartsfield airport's hourly parking lot, as soon as you cross the cashier, you have to make a slight right turn but what you don't notice is this huge curb that is still there not turning or anything, so I rubbed my wheel against it, it felt like the Titanic hitting that iceberg. I was so pissed I even started cursing in front of the in laws, of course my wife was not too happy about that so I ended up in the dog house for a while.

We are all a sorry lot! I scratched one of the wheels on my 4 month old 550 a few days ago. I've been in a bad mood since. Maybe we should start a support group of sort . . .

Thats a great idea. I think I'm in the dog house now too with the new girl. I have some apologizing to do to her friends.

But, for some reason I feel like I should be apologizing to my car haha

sorry to hear that. yes it really sucks to see your own wheels scratched but at least it can be repaired. as another option, maybe you could check with your dealer if they offer wheel repair. mine does, and if its for a decent price, why not. when it happened to me though, i went to a tire shop and they said that they send out wheels to be repaired all the time, so thats the route i took and it was worth it.
