So I am newbie to this forum, I just got a 2008 535i. I am looking to do some retrofits. CIC, Combox & 6NR. Has anyone done these on here before on a E60?

When looking around online, I see BIMMERRETROFIT and BIMMER-TECH seem to be where most are getting their stuff. Any reviews on either? I see the PnP activation is way cheaper than OEM. Anyone do the PnP and have issues?

Any advice or comments are greatly appreciated!

This thread is the bible for those retrofits, lots and lots of know-how in there.

Good luck!

What is the average pricing for the retrofit?

Around 3000 onwards.

OP - at max, only a few hundred people have done the retrofit, so any reviews of it are going to be more of personal opinions. I did it in my dad's car and he loves it. I decided to stick with the CCC. Also you have to factor in the time to do it, possibilities of getting stuck, paying for coding etc. I strongly recommend Patrys - a fellow member here who does upgrades, unless you are the DIY kind.

Did you do the OEM activation or the PnP?

PnP. There are many reasons to go with either. OEM is failsafe, PnP is cheaper. For me, I knew when I (i.e my dad) was going to sell the car, he would probably get dimes on the $ he spent on the upgrade. With the PnP, he can always part it out and sell separately, all working. With the OEM, you loose the $$ spent on activation the moment the unit is out of the car.

The newest PnPs are completely plug and play I think.

Oh okay, I had heard PnP wasn't as good so I was concerned. But your right with OEM it's very expensive. Did you go thru Patrys with the Retrofit with PnP activation?

Sorry...What's the PnP option? What are the pros and cons? Got a link?
