IF you have comfort access the battery is easily replaced. If not, the battery charges when inserted in the key slot. If it's the latter it's possible the battery has become discharged and needs some drive time. If it's CA (Comfort Access) replace the battery and see if that helps. Instructions are in your owner's manual which you can also download one from the Information section of this forum.

Definitely check your battery... and I see you are new here so welcome!

Regarding the Sports Package, do you have shadow line trim? Sports seats? Sport steering wheel? Have the dealer (or maybe someone on this site) run your VIN for all your options.

Maybe we need a "Search Function" sticky and "Check your manual" with a link to the manuals sticky all by itself on the main page... I have never seen so many key fob battery threads...

The "Fob" is recharged when inserted into the slot, as far as opening it, I never had to open one. There might be other issues going on with your CA, do a search and read!

This might help;

Key fobs are rechargeable in the slot if you do not have CA. If you have CA, the fob has a replaceable battery. Mine lasted around 2 years before I needed to replace the battery...

You do not have comfort access. Just a regular key that has to be inserted in the car for it to start and charge the key. Its possible the battery in the key is too old and can't hold a charge or it's not being left in the ignition long enough for it to charge completely.

If your's has a removeable battery.... to access it, first remove the key, and then pry it up with a screwdriver. It's really quite easy - you don't have to worry about breaking it. If it doesn't come up easily, then it's likely not the removeable one... and hence, not the Comfort Assist model.
