Also, dealer was probably wrong.
I do indeed hope they were wrong, at least about the O2 Sensor which I have not changed yet. Thanks for the info!

Not sure what you drive, but for the N54 engine in the 535i you have to set both the power compensation and flow values for each injector. The values are printed on each injector and are set using either INPA or ISTA/D.

Yes. Thanks for the info. I've just recently received a bit of great direction with the INPA system that now have me on track. I hope to one day be as knowledgeable as you guys. Thanks again!

Ok, well learned something new. I drive and/or currently own a M54B30, M62B44, N52B30, N62B44, and N62B48 powered car and have never had to replace a fuel injector on any BMW that I have owned...and it has been many. But alas, never a N54 or any turbo charged powered car.

I did think it odd having to replace injectors so soon on an '08 vehicle. I've never had any confidence in my dealership, but just went with what they said. The spark plugs were all black and sooty, and smoking while running very rough, and spitting small bits of soot out of the exhaust.

Personally, I would look to other issues/causes. But, again, I have zero experience with the direct injected turbo charged engines. Maybe fuel injector issues are more common. Can't imagine all injectors have failed...but, they may be carbon fouled due to other problems. O2 sensor failure will not cause a drastic change in air/fuel mixture to the point of the systems you describe, Spark plugs are probably a casualty of the underlying problem as well.

Get a second opinion.
