2008 535i Check Engine Light/Does it have MAF or MAP or both?
2008 E60 LCI 535i Twin Turbo: Check Engine Light On. Does it have MAF or MAP or both? Check engine light turned on just in time for the yearly inspection. I read some forums that the MAF can be cleaned and usually works. I removed and cleaned what I thought was the MAF but today after research I realized I removed and cleaned the MAP. It made a big difference in MPG so far, it went from around 16mpg since I can remember to almost 20mpg and probably more on longer non stop drives. Why has the Check engine light not turned off, after cleaning of MAP I’ve driven aprox. 50-60 miles. At the end since I seen light did not erase I disconnected battery cables and left it unplugged but even that didn’t erase code. Does the car have both the MAF and MAP. Thanks for any and all info.

No MAF, just MAP. If your CEL was triggered by the dirty MAP, it will take several start/run/stop cycles before it goes out by itself, not mileage. I'd suggest getting your codes checked - you need a scantool that does deep BMW codes for best results, but a generic scanner should show the basic codes.
