My Ride: 535d (4/05) M Sport, Carbon black, Black dakota leather, Sport seats, Xenon, Navi prof, Hi-fi pack, AS, BT, PDC, Sunroof
I reckon its too soon for a 535d upgrade. They will most probably upgrade only the older engines

The 535d engine is fundamentally the same engine as the upgraded 530d engine... So we could see some small increment - 285HP/580Nm...

BMW improves there cars all the time and of course these engines will also be upgrated in a while, but when....?
For example the new gasoline N52 engine family came out this spring, in the middle of the 2005 model lifeline!

However, the changes are quite small so I don't think the residuals will be affected anyway...
The 525d is probably at the best performance/price point.
