It's all about if it's setup correctly. If you're not having the options populate then install is incorrect. This is how mine looks.

I always suggest to backup C:\Edibias\bin\edibias.ini and remote.ini in the same folder as soon as you install BMW Standard Tools. This way if you mess them up or EasyConnect does for some reason, you can restore the default settings without having to reinstall BMW Standard Tools.

To expand on what Sean Jordan is saying, in my own experience, there are different versions of Edibias.ini, and some work better than others.

For ports, as Sean has said, it should default to port 6801 for any ICOM, and port 6802 if you have an ICOM B.

What I meant was for the software, it differentiates between the main ICOM A (A2, A3, Next, whatever) on port 6801. The ICOM B cannot share the same port as the main ICOM, so it defaults to port 6802. That is how the software "knows" which ICOM to talk to.

All EasyConnect is doing is editing your Edibias.ini for you. I use ITool Rader to figure out what IP address my ICOM is using, then in EasyConnect choose Type: REMOTE, IP: 169.254.92.38, and then Mode: Base. If you look at Edibias.ini before and after using EasyConnect, in my case you will see C:\Edibias\bin\edibias.ini that is sets #Interface to REMOTE and IP to 169.254.92.38 (Set manually in EasyConnect). If I had selected something different, like DiagBus, it would change it to REMOTE: DiagBus (no space in between, had to do that thanks to smiley face!) for example, for MOST, it would change it to REMOTE:MOST, etc. That is in your remote.ini in the same folder it is calling. You can do the same thing EasyConnect is doing by manually entering your IP address and typing in REMOTE as your interface, then specify which Mode (always REMOTE: and then (Mode) for anything but Base).

In the remote.ini, you will see different sections dedicated to the Mode you have your ICOM in. It is a good idea to make sure that the IP addresses are all correct and the ports as well. I have had BMW Standard Tools installs that did not even come with EasyConnect and the remote.ini was all messed up. IP address will never change, but ports will. Anything not on the MOST should be 6801 and anything with the MOST will be port 6802.

EasyConnect is just making your life much easier, but if someone tampered with that remote.ini (rare but have a copy of Standard Tools where they messed it up and have a lot of wrong stuff in it), it won't work right.

There are times I do not even use EasyConnect, just because after messing with it quite a few times, I know how to do it manually. Only mess with things when you know for sure what you are doing (goes without saying). EasyConnect makes it quicker, easier, and more fool-proof. You can easily learn how Edibias.ini works by seeing what EasyConnect is changing anytime you make a change in the program.

Although it works when I enter the option manually, it would be nice to have it working properly.
Any idea what would be the issue on my end? What can I do to fix this?

Check the easyconnect settings and make sure they are correct. There's only 2 lines to configure but only the ediabas setting matters

Attached are a copy of my edibias.ini and remote.ini for reference. Of course, you have to edit them with whatever IP address your ICOM uses, but this is a perfectly working edibias.ini and remote.ini

Anywhere it says OPS_Name gets replaced with your ICOM IP address. Mind the spacing for those that have that have _ab625 on the end, for example MOST_ab625.

You are not getting the options because in edibias.ini and remote.ini, they are not set right. Remove the .txt if you want to try and use my files with yours. I would likely just make sure your current ones match mine and back yours up first before editing.

In edibas, under TCP, RemoteHost would be your ICOM IP address. In remote. RemoteHost will be your ICOM IP address, which may be different from mine.

EDIABAS.INI.txt (25.7 KB, 30 views)

That's nice, I will give it a try tomorrow and I let you know how it goes. Thanks!
