My Ride: 2008 535i:
(8/07 Build) Metallic Bronze, Beige NASCA Leather, Ventilated Seats, Sport Pkg, Cold Wxr Pkg, Logic-7 Sound, HUD, Night Vision, PDC, Split Rear Seats, NAV, Premium Pkg, Comfort Access, HD Radio, Sport Auto Trans
Current mods: M-Aero Kit, JB4, Motorcepts 6000k HID Foglamps
Umnitza ICE-Lite 10w LED 6000k AE's
1992 Camaro RS:
Fully Restored w/Custom Interior, 5.0L V8, T-tops, OEM Z28 Foglamps, Inst Cluster, & Spoiler, Custom Sound, Too many engine mods to list

As for the amount of oil, I think at least 7 qts, but somebody else may chime in with a defininte answer.

The oil filter is located on the bottom of the engine. You need a special wrench to remove the filter: Assenmacher V410
It takes 6.9 quarts to do the change. Use only BMW approved oils, here is a list that was current as of November 2009:

The oil filter is located on the bottom of the engine. You need a special wrench to remove the filter: Assenmacher V410
It takes 6.9 quarts to do the change. Use only BMW approved oils, here is a list that was current as of November 2009:

Now to point you in the "right" direction here's a picture - by - picture of the change on a 535 ... your 530 will be similar. https://5series.net/forums/topic/497...my-535i-today/ And the oil filter will require a "special" wrench. I can't confirm the Assenmacher noted in one post is the correct part.

The ticking is due from not getting enough oil at startup and should go away when the engine is warm. Anything else will require replacing the lifter.
