2006 525i and 530i are both 3.0 liter. Difference?

Well the obvious difference is that the 525i has 215 hp vs the 255 hp of the 530i. Since both are 3.0 liter does this mean its the same engine but maybe the chip and the engine are slightly modified to produce the results? Reprograming the chip in the 525i could easily put you up to 230hp and probably beat the older 530i's

This is only true for the USA and Canada ( rest of the world have 2.5L )
They are not the same engine, though they share some parts

The one big difference is the air intake which is a single stage design on the 525i/325i and a multi stage one the 530i/330i

ECU different, aswell as some other parts
