2004 issues
The swaying is normal. My old E39 had 245/40/18 tires and it "swayed" like crazy. With the narrower orginal tires, no problem, with the wider Dunlops on the same road, the thing went all over the place.

BMW just experienced my problem with the radio/cd. It appears that I need a new amplifier. First they thought I was nuts because they couldn't replicate it. Now they heard it. Don't let anyone tell you you're nuts. I'm also getting new tires (Michelins). I think Continental tires are flawed. THey may cause hydro-planning. If you have those tires, pay attention to speeds above 70 mph.My tranny was recalibrated. I'll see if the 'lurching' goes away.
Please post more information on how BMW finally diagnosed the amplifier problem. I've been trying to get the static problem fixed since July with no luck. My dealer alternates between "this will be fixed with a future software update" or "we can't reproduce the problem"
It's amazing how attentive the dealer was when I was buying the car. They can't be bothered to help now that I own the car
. I need to find a new dealer!

It started out as an intimittent problem. I couldn't relicate when I visited the service center. As I was leaving the static started at a very loud pace. I immediately turned my car around and grabbed the service manager. He listened and agreed that there is a problem. His service forman came out and heard it also. It comes and goes at no regular time. It just happens when possibly the audio system stays on for a while (maybe heat has something to trigger it). I suggest that when you have the static, get it over to the center. Don't touch or change anything. Leave the car running and get the managers. It becomes a matter of timing. I do not know how else to discribe it. You have to be persistant and move fast when it happens. Good luck.
