Hello,

I just purchased a used 2004 545i without NAV. Can anyone tell me what version of software the modules (i drive etc.) the car should have upgraded before going out of BMW CPO warranty in 9/09.

I have read posts about diffrent modules: bluetooth, i-drive, mp3 playback, transmission programs... and want to make sure I am at the latest rev before I cannot go back to the dealer with a service bulliten and have it covered.

I do have annoying problems with the SOS service working and not working, I did have an 06 325xi with MP3 playback and it would be nice to get it back.

It does have the logic7 sound system and 6 disc changer.

I did read about the Ipod interface, but again the software had to be at a certain rev before using.

If anyone knows the BMW service bulliten numbers I can print to present the dealer with to get these done, that will help.

my version control in idrive is
build aug 10 2006 c: h:7.4.1
last line I-06-03-510_051122

i just took my car in for ipod reprogramming. The dealer saw it has a recall on the car for the seat mat (they replaced the seat mat a few weeks ago) and they ended up reprogramming the ENTIRE car. tranny and all. Their new system will update everything automatically no matter what. See if your car is in the recall for the seatmat programming. It even fixed the tranny slam and gave me a different idrive screen.

that's right. they only reprogram the car on a "complain" basis. "if it's not broken don't fix it"

try to find a reason or, you can just tel them you want an mp3 option. BTW, it will not automatically appear after reprogramming. they have to go to the menu and select "MP3 Retrofit" so could be with other retrofits

i have a question though, it looks like you use SOS service often.. what for ?? ))

Do you have the recall bulletin number for the recall?

You may have a failing TCU. I don't know if that will get replaced under CPO, but it's worth a shot. Where are you located?
