HI All,

I've just joined the BMW owner fraternity with a nice 2004 e60 530i. Very impressed with the vehicle overall... but the stereo?? Yuck! I cannot believe such a good car can have such an average sound system.

Does anyone have any recommendations on ways to improve it while maintaining the cars original appearance?

Tell me about it. I was disappointed when I got my E60 in regards to the sound. Everything else has been perfect! First thing I did was add a 12" subwoofer to my trunk. That already made it so much better. Best part is the middle armrest that is part of the rear seats has an opening to the trunk so you can place your subwoofer pointing towards you to optimize the bass.

Another option is you can upgrade your speakers, which is something I plan on doing in the future. More info here...

Yes - A true disappointment.... Looks like I'l have to throw money at it :-( This was the LAST thing I expected from a BWW.

Anyway - I appreciate the answer. If anyone else has solved the issue I'd be interested to hear how - particularly a DIY solution.

How good of a upgrade are those bsw's. I was thinking about getting the whole package?

 

i have the stage one...good quality sound..i like it..
i am looking for the amp upgrade...still thinking..

 

I believe you're not benefitting much if you go only for BSW speakers without adding an amplifier. But their Stage 1 and an added amplifier --> woot woot!
