Last tuesday, my dealer retrofited the Voice Control in my car. To activate it, he had to flash the software & put the brand new 20.01.
Everything is working fine, ... as before. Auto gear shifting seems to be more gentle & more accurate, especialy with the throttle position (no unwanted kickdown).
Hi OliverB and All:

Check out this thread on Step shiting and related matters.

And, check this one out for more pertinent information.
However can you confirm (my stupid question) that the standard E60 Auto is Steptronic??

Auto=Steptronic. Although, SMG has auto mode...

Cheers, that's what i thought. In my RS6 it was called Tiptronic, but basically the same thing, although the RS6 had flappy paddles as well.

Oliver, i'm getting the very same done next week, retro voice control & software update to allow for the voice control & mp3 playback.

Can you confirm if your dealer had to flash the Engine ECU, or just the i-drive ECU.

Slight worry that my DMS re-map will be wiped when the work is done.

Cheers,

No no, just i-drive ecu. They didn't touch at the engine ecu... yet ! So don't worry for your DMS remaping.
This month, my dealer has recorded 3 broken engines in X5 3.0D ... REMAPPED ! A real problem for the warranty !!

So that a good thing of bad thing for you?
definitely not good IMO... i want my gear shifts to be so quick and brutal that my spine would snap

Right on 700700 This is my biggest gripe with the 545 step. The shifts are slow & soft.I long for the days of my 69 ram air firebird with auto.Shifts were accompanied by loud squeels and and rear end stepping to the right.

The CIP 20.x haven't been updated for the longest time. When I bought my e60, it was v18.x, it got updated to v19.x and v20.x in matter of months.
