To sum up, it was a pain in the a$$ to find a tire shop in Manhattn who either had the correct equipment or who were willing to repair a run flat. In the end I just took it to a cheap tire place that lots of taxis go. I'm prettty sure they scratched the surface of the rim that is in contact with the tire, but the repair worked and I've had no problems since.
