if you change it at 14000mile you must be mad or you going to sell the car soon and dont care about the engine.
for me it will alway be 7k to 8k km for a oil change and spark plug at every 2 oil change. to keep the engine tip top and save on mpg too.
I do this for any car not just bmw.
oil will get thick in any car at about 10000km

black oil isnt always bad. Most of the blackstone reports ive done in the past always came back with plrenty of life left. oil turns color within the first hundred miles of use, so its a bad indicator of quality.
mobile 1 turns black at about 800km so I never use this any more.

I will give the BMW engineers the benefit of the doubt and say that 14,000 is prolly ok.
As a owner of their product, I would break it down this way:
If leasing, 14k service is ok
If buying, it's not.
That may sound selfish, but I'm ok with it.

If you get your oil analyzed, you can know for sure and won't have to give anyone the benefit of the doubt.
I will take my chances and leave the oil analysis to those who really care.

If the car is under warranty does anyone know if the dealership will change the oil before the 15K mark? let's say 7K?

7.5K miles sounds about the right time to change for normal use.
15K miles interval is BMW's way to reduce cost of included "maintenance warranty".
Is it okay for engine, I probably think so if you drive normally while topping off every now and then.
Is it close to border line of oil's shear. Probably so.
I'm a DIY guy anyway, I love doing it, I could use much better quality oil and it's cheaper too

No at least not for free.
The closest I've been able to get them to change was 2000 miles before the 15k mark.
