When I ran my sub I did undercoat the entire underbody of the trnk lid, floor of the trunk, and quarter panels. I put a nice think coat as if i were to dynomat. Spraying is much better than the sheets IMO. After I put everything back I took a door attachement and put two holes where the ski through would be and where the armrest is. Works out good. Just use regular rubberized under coating.

I've heard good things about the spray too. Which spray did you go with? And that's actually a pretty good idea with the door attachment! You have any pics of that?

Using a hole saw is a pretty effective and subtle idea. I actually used a airsaw to cut out my port and it works out pretty well. I removed my back seat too, so it took a while.

I know this for a fact because a friend of mine has an e60 and his audio shop did just that. Me on the other hand, my audio shop said it couldn't be done a few years back and ended up cutting holes in the bottom door panel to fit the 6.5's. Sucks. But yea I do have a 4 channel amp supplying 75watts rms each to 4 6.5 inch speakers. So now what is left is the bass. The factory underseat subs did justice for the time being but it's time to upgrade. Any recommendations what alt or battery to look into?
That is pretty slick if you could fit 6 1/2s, but the problem is that putting in shallow speakers usually means you cant throw too much power to them, but that is good you were able to. I kind of wanted to keep my factory speakers there so that i can rewire my idrive back to get door and light chime again. As far as an upraded battery or alternator, im not too sure. I havent done too much homework on whats available on the e60.

Well I didn't put the 6.5's in the factory location but my friends shop was able to do it. They Were able to fit them not only in the front doors but also on the rear deck as well. They're high performance speakers too running around 100-200 watts a piece rms. those speakers really scream I need to find out what brand they are. I'll try to ask my friend and see if he remembers. As for the I drive chime I know exactly what you mean. My chime now is louder and even more annoying than before after adding the amp and speakers for the interior

So just to update everybody, installed two 12's with a 1500 watt rms amp and also have a four channel amp for the high. All on stock electrical, no dimming of the lights or anything. Also, bass travels inside the cabin just fine even without the ski hole or any modifications !
