Would an audio system pushing 1000 watts RMS put serious stress on the stock electrical system? Replaced my battery about a year ago so that's good for now.

If you put a big cap in it most likely wouldn't matter. Without a cap it you most likely dim your headlights

How many farads should the cap be? All those running systems what are your experiences?

They sell a whole bunch pretty cheap here:

Its kind of up to you what size you want to put in. Personal bigger the better!

Thanks. Probably going to go with a 5 farad cap. Would a 1500-1800 watt system be pushing it?? Getting a great deal on some subs that can handle a bit more wattage

For 1000 watts you will need 1 farad. You can use 1.5 farad for 1800 watts and 2 farad for 2500 watts. These are RMS rated wattage @ 4 ohms. You really need to look at the voicecoils and the wiring capabilities of the subs. You also need to match the amplifier to go with the sub config. Class d amps and have capability to run down to .5 ohm load so they're very versatile. A clean 500 watts RMS is enough in the E60 to rattle your rear view mirror and tickle your earlobes.

Yeah if you decide to go with a cap this is pretty much the standard, but in all honesty I don't even run a cap in my ride. What brands were you potentially thinking about going with?

Thanks EUautohaus for the advice. BTW, will be contacting you in the very near future for OBD cable.

JBZ what are you running in your ride? I was thinking of throwing in two 12" audioque SDC2.5 subs. They're rated at 600 rms each but people run then 200-300 more daily with no problem. If all electrical holds out at that much wattage, then I was thinking of getting audiopipe AP-18001D. I would have the box custom made for the specs of the subs.
Here are the links to the subs and amp.

Also, not too sure about pairing up and wiring of the voicecoils and ohms to the amp so if anyone can clarify if that would work right there would be great!
