I have a 2007 550i that I bought recently that is cpo. The mileage is about 45k. I wanted to know if I have an option to buy an additional warranty from the bmw dealer? I guess to extend the first warranty and include service; oil change brakes and wipers. The cpo covers 2 y 100 miles but I am wondering about better coverage with the service/extended warranty.
What should I expect to pay for the extension of the first warranty?

thank you in advance

It sounds like you want to extend the maintenance, not the warranty. Mine would've been ~$1500 for the 06 550i. I passed.

I don't believe there is any more extended warranty from BMW beyond the CPO coverage. What you can buy is maintenance coverage which is about $1500 to $1700. If you car is running fine, then save the money and find a good indy shop for services.

Good topic. I was actually wondering the same thing??

I bought CPO and they only extend pay for the mechanical warranty not the service!

My service is due on November 2010, I came from my dealer 3 days ago from dropping off my car. Then it occurred me to ask how much would it be to renew it, and they told me it was $2,195 for my 2007 530i.

Now my question is, if we buy the warranty from another BMW dealer (one that offers it cheaper) would it be valuable at my dealer or is it only at the dealer you bought it from??

if you tell your dealer you're gonna get the same warranty from another dealer for 1500, chances are they'll give you the same price - 1500.

But if you do end up getting the warranty from another dealer, you should look through the fine print to see if there is a cap on labor rates and what the cap is. You should also make sure that the warranty coverage does not require you to use any specific shops, but rather allows you to take your car to any dealer/shop/garage you wish.

You can buy the extended BMW Maintenance warranty from any BMW dealers and your car will be serviced at any BMW dealers of your choice.

Extended maintenance policy (oil change, brakes, inspection, etc.) can be purchased from any BMW dealer and will be honored at any BMW centers. I purchased one at a very good price. Let's just say about $1,000 less than regular price locally here in CA. PM me if you're interested in getting one (and/or a good extended warranty plan). I'm not the one selling this, and I have no business affiliation with him, just passing on some information.

These types of things have huge profit margins built in and are generally very negotiable. For my 540i Sport, I shopped around ruthlessly for a wheel and tire warranty and ended up with a price 1/2 of what my then-dealer offered. (Of course, I never used it).
