Has anyone bought insurance for a 545i in the US? How much annual premium can I expect to pay? My agent quoted me over $3,000 and I have a very good driving record.

It's very state-specific. If you live in New Jersey, it's insurance hell. What state?

Who are you with. I got a quote for a 530i from my dealer in Texas (I am from Indianapolis, and it doesn't seem to be that different), and my quote was around 1200/year. That is not the 545, but I don't think it should go up that much. How old, any kids? I have State Farm, 3000 is entirely too much!!!

I am with Western Reserve Group (never heard of them till my agent used them a couple years ago). I have 1 driving age child (20) with a good record and my wife has a good record. I'll have to ask him to quote a 530 as well to see the difference. Thanks.

Good Luck. Let us know the outcome. My wife and I together (both vehicles) don't equal $3,000, so hopefully all will work out.

I am paying a little over $3,000 for my 545, and have a spotless driving record. A big part of the equation they use to determine your insurance cost is the replacement value of the vehicle and it's performance rating. The 545 has these factors working against it. I am also 27 which can't help.

If you can't afford to insure it.....than you can't afford to own it.

I was quoted $676 for 6mo by State Farm and this can go lower if some other discounts go through for the antitheft system. My E39 530i was $560 so that is not a big jump.

Those rates sound better. You should really look into the information that are using to calculate your premium. I would change carriers if they do not come down.
