'07 530i Rear main seal
#1
Not quite 4 weeks old, 625 miles with leaking crank oil on garage floor. Dealer has to pull transmission as soon as BMW gives go ahead. He's certain its the rear main seal. Someone or machine wasn't doing good seal work during this units construction. Hope it isn't a sign of things to come. Will not have loaner car available till Friday and this may take a while to fix. Anyone else have rear main seal problems so early in life (the car's life)?
Prior - 2000 M Roadster, 2003 330i, 2004 330i with Pref Pack, 2006 330i and 2007 530i > Black on Black.

Tell them to get you a loan car pronto - even if they have to hire it and bill it back to BMW as part of the warranty claim (I know for a fact that they can do so)
You are paying good money for your car and have been inconvenieced once by the fact that it was defective. Further inconvenience is unacceptable.
This sort of thing really hacks me off - lazy dealers - I bet if you kick up a fuss you get a car today.

That sucks. I totally agree that you should have a loaner right away.

Got '07 back today...so just about a week. It was the rear main seal with only 670 miles on this 3-week old 530i. Makes me wonder? I've had all types and tens of autos - never had this happen especially being so new? If it leaks again it may get traded for something a little more dependable.

Danno- I hope this works out for you. I had the main seal go on my new 2003 Lincoln Navigator with about 1100 miles. A week later it went again. This time Lincoln found a burr on the crankshaft. They then had to replace the entire engine. All has been fine since, but I sure was a pain. My point is a leaking main seal on this new of a car is very rare. I hope your dealer checked every possible cause, which Lincoln dealer did not at first.
