Hard to follow a running sentence. Cranks/starts above 40 degrees. Cranks/no start below 40 degrees (after sitting a while). Is that correct?

Get a scanner capable of reading/clearing BMW specific codes. Start there.

Please use punctuation - commas, periods etc. - to help us understand your description. At the very least, use a Capital letter to start your next phrase. Eg. You say (I think) there are no codes, but then say the "cam sensor codes". Are you using codes as a verb or a noun in that part?. I am not trying to be pedantic or such, just trying to understand your problem.

I used to write the code for an engine management system: 1 cam sensor, 1 crank sensor. Without a valid cam sensor, one would not know when to initiate spark. No spark = no run.

If you replace the cam sensors and the engine will still not start, AND you continue to get cam errors, I suggest the following: When the engine is running, take note of the relationship between the cam signals and crank signal as they appear at the DME. You will need an oscilloscope. Then, compare to what is seen when the engine does not start.

If they differ, the problem lies in the sensors or wiring prior to the DME. If they are the same, and you still get cam errors, I would suspect a solder joint in the DME itself.

If I understand correctly, if you are as qualified as you claim to be and the problem is "very simple" as you say, why ask us? At least I think that you are asking us. I am not correcting your grammar, but trying to understand your problem in spite of your poor description of the problem.

With respect. Bob P.
