Actually I have driven the x5 4.8 and its a hell of a truck, its quick and handles great BUT its not as quick as the 545 and it doesnt handle as well. After all it is a truck that sits higher and it doesnt have the active suspension like the 545.

 

Well, here's an update on the whole situation.....

First and foremost, driving a 4.8is is unlike any other X5 or SUV, truck, whatever out there. For a vehicle it's size, it is very quick and nimble. The only thing missing is the ///M badge and a few of the goodies. I'm sure it would hold it's own against a 545.

Anyway, back to topic at hand. My salesman wouldn't sell me the 545! He made perfect sense doing it too. I have a LeMans Blue Metallic 4.8is that is just coming up on it's 1 year birthday. He also said that if I got the 545, I'd be back in a couple months ordering a 550. He is probably right, cause that's the way I am. If I'm going to do it, I'm going all the way.

So, I'll be driving the X5 for a bit longer, wait until the '07's start rolling in and go from there. I did decide that a 5er is going to be my next car though. Thanks for all the input, I'll still be around, might not post much but rather gathering info and ammo for when I order my 550.
