The 550i may be more fun and faster than the 535i, but if you are on a budget, I think the 535i is a much better value.
Ignorance is bliss - just don't test drive the 550 and you should definitely be happy with a 535i.

My Ride: 2008 535i: June 6th start build, complete June 17th, at NY Port July 5th, at dealer July 10th, took delivery Friday July 13- Plantimum Bronze/Natural Brown Leather/Light Poplar, Sport Package, Sport Auto, Active Steering, Premium Package, CWP & PDC. Dinan Performance Software 384hp & 421 ft/lbs.

I would probably get a 535i myself given its as fast as my 545i and I like lighter cars - I just noticed that some people really like the V8 rumble and aero package on the 550i. For those people, it may be worth getting a 550i.

Hummm I want the 545 to be faster but everything tells me the 335 is faster... so oh wells... too bad so sad.
