Having spent almost 10 days in a 550i with Sportpaket followed by 10 days in a 535, I can attest that the V8 feels smoother than the I6 (counterintuitive, I know, because a 6 is better balanced).

In terms of idle, I find them roughly equal although I might give the 550i a very slight edge in smoothness.

The I6 has to work much harder and never achieves the amount of torque that the V8 is capable of (remember, hp isn't torque).

The 535i is a nice little car but it's not comparable to the 550i when you give Gas.
It has been well documeted here in this forum concerning the V8 roughness, and my experience has been the same.

Sure its not just cuz the runflats are still new?
I have had three new sets of runflats on my 545 and they were never this smooth.

If money is not an issue, you better get the 550i. ..........unless you don't mind being embarrassed from being blown away by the likes of the new Infiniti G37 (330hp, 270 lbs / ft torque) or the BMW 335 (300hp, 300 lbs / ft torque).
The 550 will still get blown away by the 335i, sorry.

LOL come on man! Man you guys with the new I6 bi-turbo have real complexes. You simply cant say what you just said. Have you raced the 2 side by side? What about past 60mph or 60-120? Who wins then? The very first part of acceleration might go to thelighter 335i but thats it...IMHO

I have a friend that has a Neon that will turn 11's in the quarter. Should we all walk around with bags on our heads?

It doesnt show much to me. Besides the 07 545 is NOT the '08 550i w/ SAT.

Don't confuse "complex" with "fact recognition." Road & Track in their August 2007 http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?se...article_id=5495 the 335i posted a 4.8 second 0-60 and a 13.4 @105.1 quarter; Again sorry.

Go with the new 535i, its a shockingly fast car for the engine size, 550i is good tooo, mid range pull might be better then the 535i, unless you chip the 535.

On the whole i,d go with 535i

We are all friends here with a common interest, the e60 and the support and help back and forth is the best. We are mostly just having fun with the 535 v 550 thingy.
