I have a 2007 550i that didn't come with SAT. I would like to install the Sirius module myself then take to the dealer for a 'software update'. Can you give me the BMW part number for the Sirius module? Thanks!

Hi - I just purchased the Satellite radio module from Garry at Newport and plan to install it this weekend. Should be easy since I have sat. prep. All the DIY stuff out here is great but I have a question on the optical connection. Do I have to 'extend' it before I go to the dealer for programing? If so, what exactly am I doing to the junction box behind the seat? Just moving inputs and outputs around to create a loop?

Thanks!

If anyone needs it, here is the instruction on how to convert your 2 wire antennae connection to a 1 wire connection. The older satellite radio receiver P/N 65126948064 (with 2 wire connection) has been discontinue and replaced by p/n 65129192274 (with 1 wire connection). You need this adapter to complete the retrofit on older cars.

Great post! I wanted to tag this thread since this is another mod I'm itching to do on my car and as usual there is a ton of useful information here. As it turns out my car does have Satt-Prep SA693 so the "MOST" block, power cables and wire loom should already be tucked away in the left side of my trunk. Although my dealership confirmed this by my VIN, I've still got to check things out myself.

Part numbers for my car (Pre-LCI 2007 E60) are:
(01) Satellite Radio Module # 65129162994
(02) Bracket # 65106925468

Once I'm done this mod, I'll post a few pics and try to answer any questions anyone has.

E60Coyote,
With regards to your earlier question in March:
Should be easy since I have sat. prep. All the DIY stuff out here is great but I have a question on the optical connection. Do I have to 'extend' it before I go to the dealer for programing? If so, what exactly am I doing to the junction box behind the seat? Just moving inputs and outputs around to create a loop?
I am also just buying the satellite module, bracket, nuts and bolts and am a little perplexed about the optical connection. How did your install go and what is the solution for hooking up the optical connection to our Satt-Prep SA693 cars? Did you have to buy optical cabling, did you have to splice existing cabling or is the optical cable prep already done and just needs termination to the satellite module along with power cables etc?

Your feedback or any other knowledgeable member who has a response, is much appreciated.

Thanks,

I recently had a BMW dealer here in Houston, Tx install in my 2007 550i (E60) for right at $855. Good job and all worked well.
