Retrofit Rear Side Manual Sunshades

Hi Everyone,
Anyone know what is involved in retrofiting an '08 E61 with rear side manual sunshades? And is it practical?
According to the guy at the local BMW body shop, it would be very expensive because completely different rear doors are required for this retrofit. Personally, I find it hard to believe that BMW would stock two different door assemblies for a $250 option. Not real efficient!
My passengers loved these in my E39 and I'm surprised they are not standard equipment by now.
