Hi People,

I have purchased the Retro Fix AUX kit, it included the AUX (3.5 Jack Plug)lead a couple of screws and some cable ties....it says no special tools are required for fitting, and the instructions i managed to get from one of the guys in the dealers say's all you need to do is remove the Glovebox, and the M-ask.

Then you plug the connector into the M-Ask and drill 3 holes for the AUX in the glovebox, 2 for the screws and 1 for the AUX cable to fit into.....my problem is...

1. What is the M-ask & How do i remove the M-ask.
2. Where do i plug the connector into.
3. The instructions also say to change the leads around in the connector, why would the leads not be in the correct place.

I have a late 2005 520 M Sport, Fully loaded, with Prof System inc. TV, Sat Nav, Bluetooth, iDrive, voice control.....

Looking forward to any help guys...

Thanks

I just installed my aux cable this weekend and it works awesome. Somebody stated you had to have the resistors removed, but I didn't and it works just fine. That being said, you will not get the bass unless you have the aux programmed on your idrive. Cost me $150 at bmw. Don't let them charge you for more than one hour of labor becuase the instructions only require one hour to install the whole thing, including programming.

1.disconnect battery
2.remove glove compartment. drill hole and install aux cable input just below the flashlight. AFTER I DID MINE, I REALIZED THAT YOU CAN ACTUALLY SKIP THIS STEP AND INSTALL THE AUX CABLE INPUT "HOLE" ANYWHERE YOU WANT. I ACUTALLY HAVE A SMALL LITTLE "CUBBY" HOLE AND HAVE DECIDED TO CHANGE THE LOCATION TO INSIDE THE "CUBBY" HOLE. YOU CAN ACTUALLY TAKE THE "AUX INPUT" PLATE OFF AND JUST ATTACH THE HOLE TO THE WOOD TRIM IF YOU WANTED (when i say wood trim, i mean what surrounds the stereo and a/c). IT'S PRETTY LOW PROFILE AND WOULDN'T LOOK TOO BAD.
3.remove wood trim on dash
4.remove face dash that covers stereo
5.pull out stereo
6.pull out the connector on the rear bottom right side.
6a. route aux cable around the back of the stereo from the glove compartment
7.remove pins from aux connector and connect slots 2, 7 and 8 on connector removed from stereo
8.put car back together
9.you will get sound, however, it will be real bad until you get the car reprogrammed.

Good luck

Maybe you can help. I have a 2004 530 sport package with a basic radio and no cd player in the truck. I would like to hook up my ipod thru the radio. Any ideas? Will this kit work without a cd changer hook up?

Thanks

The AUX input kit will work without the CD changer... I think.

The only thing is that you still have to use the iPod (or any other sound source) through the iPod itself, not through the iDrive.

The CD Player has nothing to do with it. As a matter of fact, only you know you don't have a CD player because you actually hook up the aux kit to the Main stereo component anyway.

Here's the official installation guide and you can get the the kit from the dealer, or from here for example.
