Glad to hear that the instructions were spot on (my memory ain't what it used to be).
Also, with your extra information about the State Inpection, the subject should now be well and truly covered. It'll be interesting to know if anyone else has used them and what their verdict is.

Correct, just to reset different service due indications. Fault code may requires some kind of aftermarket scanner or BMW diag. tool.
This procedure works great... just replaced my Front and rear Brake pads and was able to reset the Idrive information. Oil Change scheduled for Next Weekend..... I am out of Warranty.... 52k miles.
Now I need to fiugure out how to turn off the call home feature. when it thinks service is needed.
Thanks for writting this procedure....

Was it a easy job replacing the front and rear brake pads ?

Replaced Front and rear pads and New front rotors. Not a big deal just find a DIY article on E46 model basically the same brakes but bigger floating caliper design. Be careful on the rotors for the E60 there are 2 different rotors on the front. The Automatic cars take a rotor that is 30mm wide vs the standard cars are 28mm.
I went with Axxis pads from http://www.zeckhausen.com/ Dave was very helpful.
I was able to source Zimmerman rotors from www.pelicanparts.com for 63.50 each with free shipping
Let me know if you have more questions.
Here are a couple of sources I used.

There is a tool and software called CarSoft using 6.1/6.5 interface. This will work for E60 up to 10/2004. This tool hooks up to a laptop with serial input, and it can clear airbag fault code and some others.
Google scansoft and find out. I'm wondering if anyone has use this tool?

Hi kreate2
Welcome aboard
Press the tacho reset button in the instument cluster about 10 seconds with the key to on position, until "service" appears, then change selection with a sigle push
until "engine oil" appears. Keep pushing the "reset " ask yes? and that's all. Next oil change after 25000 Km appears on the idrive "service"menu.
Beware, not to reset another function, there is no way to restore a reseted item.
Regards.
