reset milage reminder for oil change and service

My Ride: 2006 525i with nav and blue tooth , the wifes
and 1999 740il, my beast
My Bavarian Auto SR300 with adaptor SR300-16A will read specific BMW engine fault codes and reset the code but it will not reset the milage reminder for oil change and service.!!
Since I will be doing my own service and oil change I also want to be able to reset these computer generated reminders....is there a way to do it without a special tool? Thanks, Henry

The last time I was at the dealer, they did the low-mileage oil change, ~1900 miles left on the reminder. They said they didn't reset it because I could come back and get the oil changed again in 1900 miles. I didn't want the hassle since I change it myself in between dealer changes.
Anyway, I asked them to reset it, and the guy went out and did a bunch of stuff inside the car with no tools. He was really secretive about it, but I could see that he was using a combination of the trip reset button and the start button in various sequences. So, yes, it is possible to reset without any tools. If someone knows how to do it, it would be great to know!

1) Put the car in the ON position, while doing that, hold down the trip button
2) You will see a service icon appear on the trip, let go of the button and press it again
3) You'll cycle through the codes, once you see the one you want to reset, hold in the trip on that one again.
4) It will say reset? Let go and push it again.
5) Done.
Make sure you don't reset ones you don't want to because you can't restore it.

Thanks for your quick post. In my searches a couple of days ago I actually read somewhere how to reset the service and oil light using the trip reset button and turning the ignition switch (I have 2006 525i) ....but damn it I lost the link....I will continue to look for this. The Peake code reader R5/FCX-16 will read codes and also reset oil and service light according to bimmerzone.com for 2001 to 2007 BMWs where one can buy it for $140. I would call them to comfirm before buying.
If I can just figure out how to reset with the trip button then I will just buy the Bav Auto adaptor for $67
If I recall you have to have the key in the on position and then push the trip button 3 times to get one light and then repeat a similar sequence .....if I cannot find the link again I will experiment....
I any event I will post what I find under a new post ....it may be several days. Henry
