I have upgraded my business nav to professional navigation, i also installed the ipod interface
last step is to take the car to the stealer for a complete reprogrammation

the question is, after the reprogram can i replace the bmw ipod interface with the dension gateway 500 without any extra coding? (i have no! CD changer)
or is it better to try and find a cd changer so the changer can be programmed instead of the ipod interface?
car build date is 09/2004, will have mp3 compatibility after the coding for the pro navi

waiting for your greatly appreciated advice

I did it with the Dension Gateway 500 installed, during programming I told the tech to treat the GW500 as iPod interface.

damn, i should have known that earlier so i could get the gw500 ready
no one knows if its possible to just swap the ipod interface with the dension?

ofcourse, if the programmation software coded an ipod interface instead of a cd changer on your system then it should be possible i guess.
if anyone knows more about this please let me know, i have to get the car to the dealer tomorrow

Yes, since you already been using the iPod interface or CDC no need to do any coding/enabling programming, just simply swap it w/ Dension GW500 you'll save money.

There can be one interface on it either CDC, iPod or GW500 as they use the same accessing via CD1-6 menu sub-system. In my case during programming GW500 announce itself to BMW programming station as iPod interface, since you already have the real iPod interface then swapping it w/ the Dension will be transparent.

I did coding/enabling programming 'cuz I didn't have either CDC or iPod interface at first.

GL!

Hey Blastiwi,

The Dension gateway 500,

How's the interface with the ipod? does it have a good shuffle playlist? can it load more than 500 songs? with CD 1-6, what options do you have?

I love my BMW Ipod interface, but the functionality is so limited. I wish it had better shuffling and better features for the ipod.

Let me know.

Btw, where did you get your dension?
