Right on, I had to do my 2008 535i last week. Did it with engine running and using the window button on the door that had problem ( not from driver's window controls) with 17 - 20 seconds held.

I just completed the 17 sec approach on my malfunctioning rear window. When it worked after only the second try, I wanted to call a press conference! Thank you to all!!!

Oh, and mine is a 2005 525i 6spd w/67,500 mi, this was my first fault.

Oh jeez, sorry for bumping a good 2 month from last post thread, but your instructions helped me

My window would not roll up more than half way without trying to go back down, but I did the reinitialization twice, and now it works perfectly!

Thank you so much! You saved me from the $120 dollar dealer diagnostic fee!

Thank you guys. I own a 2004 BMW 530i and I had the message "anti-trap system deactivated"! and I followed the instructions about the 17 seconds rule, and believe me, it has to be exactly 17 seconds, for it to work. The faulty window, left rear, was reset and the message on the display went away. I turned the ignition off, and when I restarted the engine, the message was gone! Now it shows "All systems OK"!

i complete the 17 se reset for about ten times. it works it went up and down completely but i still get the anti trap error on my inav. I tried it again let it reset the window and turn the car off and on again still pops up anti trap. Is there any other way to fix thise? i did the reset but it still would'nt go away

Have you tried with engine running and using the window button on the door that had problem ( not from driver's window controls)?
