like everyone this post saved me a trip to the stealership. The car running and the "17 secs" were key for me as well. Thanks Everyone for the input.

I can vouch 100 per cent for the 17 second route. I had been trying all the "solutions" on the web with no success.

I have 2006 5,2 litre DSE saloon ( E60 ) the dreaded "ping " sounded rear drivers door window opening and shutting 4 different stages, error plus sign on I drive.

Start engine,leave running
Go to back seat,shut door
Bring window down in 4 different stages to bottom
Hold down at bottom for exactly 17 seconds,I used mobile phone
Immediately move window up it will go straight to top and error on I drive plus dash will go

I went to local dealer,£84 plus vat £100.80 just to look at it any additional work extra, needless to say I declined. Why don't these "experts" know these common faults by reading this excellent forum.

I thank you all for solving this

Worked like a champ, took me a few tries. I did have engine running, and held down for 17 seconds, then held up. Window cycled 2 times, then all good!!!

I tried the reset procedure at least 5 times today after getting the malfunction on my rear driver's side window this morning after inadvertently hitting the rear window button instead of the front. It did not work and the window will not go up. I am reluctant to continue trying as I do not want to cause any damage to the window or motor. Any idea what the problem could be? I did have the battery replaced last week, and my car is still under CPO warranty. If I need to take it to the dealer, does anyone know if the repair would be be covered by the warranty?

Thanks.

I did not hear any beeps, I did accept the inital warning that comes on when you start the car, and go into service codes to see the actual "anti-trap" error when I performed it for the second try.

Also I believe you CANNOT sit at the driver side to perform these unless the driver side window is the one with the issue.

Here were my steps...

1) I had the car started
2) Roll down the window all the way from the "broken" window (it wants to stop every xx inches, keep making it go down all the way)
3) I released the switch
4) I pushed and held down (I heard from another place that it needs to be exactly 17 seconds)
5) After 17 seconds I immediatly pulled up on the switch to roll the window up (it went all the way up).
6) after the window went all the way up, and still holding the up switch, it rolled all the way down, and then all the way up once more.
7) After #6 the process was complete and the window was functioning normal again.

Hope that helps.
Thank you so much, This actually worked for me on the first try.

I tried the simple sequence and it doesn't work for me. Curiously though, occasionally when I put the window up the that light on the dash goes on, a tone rings and the window stays up. Then after a bit it's back to the bounce back problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Have you done this process from the actual window with the issue? Or from the driver panel?
