To Don Juan, and all those who have contributed to this thread,
THANK YOU!

Could not have attempted it without the photos and detailed directions.

Here's a quick tip for holding the V1 in place a little better. I was getting annoyed by it slipping forward toward the windscreen whenever I pushed the Vol button to mute it or change the program mode. By design, it is supposed to push toward the windsheild until it is held in place by a rubber bumper. But since the e60 has a highly sloped windshield, the V1 just keeps sliding down the windshield until it is at an odd angle. So I put a little GE Silicone Seal on the side sliding parts of the mount and case, positioned it how I want it and let it set up. That holds it in place nicely, is invisible, and the selant can easily be removed by peeling it off. One word of warning: don't get the sealant on the window or the suction cups!

Any pictures? I'm not sure I follow where you placed the silicone sealant.

Thanks,

Lou

The red & black wire and the little black box is the A/C wiring that came with my V1. It sits normally tucked in and nice, but I pulled out for you guys to see

[B]You connect the red wire (Hot) into the green/yellow cable from the compartment. this is the one that has the juice and it is connected to the ignition on/off . Again all these parts are from my V1 kit. For other radars you could buy these adapter at Home depot or radio Shack

Anyone know how different this is going to be on a 2008 535i?

Thanks for the clarification. I'll give it a shot.

THANK YOU to all the folks who have shared in the V1 installation. The pix were great and everything worked out fine!

I just wanted to add an update to this thread:

I have a 2008 M5 and the Green + Yellow wire that comes from the rain sensor IS STILL THE RIGHT WIRE to use. I've heard some comments that the wiring *may have* changed throughout the years; however, in my case, the same wire worked for the V1 power source.

Cheers,
-Tony

I just finished hard-wiring my new V1 that Santa was kind enough to give me for Xmas . I followed Mr. Don Juan's excellent instructions and had no problems at all. I easily loosened one of the Torx screws and attached the ground wire to it. So far, just driving around town, the V1 has successfully detected numerous automatic door-openers in some strip-malls as well as a couple of speed-limit signs that display your actual speed as you approach them.

Just got done mine too. Instruction were great. I did find it a pita to tap the wire, but my taps were a bit different.
