Thanks for the great pix & instruction, Don Juan.

I picked up my 545i last week and felt naked without my Valentine 1. I hardwired my V1 using the instructions above, but with a few changes.

I located the main unit just to the right of the rear view mirror, so it wouldn't interfere with the drivers sun visor, and installed the concealed display in front of the (useless ) MPG gauge. I ran the wire for the concealed display from the power unit, tucked it between the headliner and roof (I used a plastic drywall spatula from Home Depot), down the drivers side a pillar, and down the dash and across the top of the steering column.

This is the same setup as I had in my Carrera, and it works well. The main unit has good line-of-sight front and rear so the arrows function properly, and is not lit up (so a cop behind you doesn't see it all lit up ). The concealed display position is ideal because you only have to look down slightly from your normal driving position to view it, and the mute button is in easy reach.

I'm so glad I found this forum--great information and a great group of folks!!

FYI--Valentine just came out with a POP upgrade--I got it a few weeks ago--paid $55 plus shipping:

That piece should have come inside the bag that the power adapter was in. You can get a wire tap-in at a Radio Shack or any electronics store.

Finally took some pix of my new 545i. Here's one of the Valentine 1 main unit, which I located just to the right of the rear view mirror, so it wouldn't interfere with the drivers sun visor:

I located the concealed display in front of the MPG gauge--easy to look quickly down from your normal driving line-of-sight, and the mute button is within easy reach:

The red & black wire and the little black box is the A/C wiring that came with my V1.? It sits normally tucked in and nice, but I pulled out for you guys to see

[B]You connect the red wire (Hot) into the green/yellow cable from the compartment. this is the one that has the juice and it is connected to the ignition on/off . Again all these parts are from my V1 kit. For other radars you could buy these adapter at Home depot or radio Shack

In case the newbies missed it, this is still by far the coolest custom V1 install:
