I did the same install, but used the outlet plug in the footwell. Can't be seen, but I'm afraid that someone will kick and break it off.
Is it relatively easy to disassemble the outlet and surrounding plastic to hardwire it? I haven't looked at it, but could likely figure it out. Any tips?
TIA

Also, it was really difficult to find the proper grounding nut. So I ended up just tapping both the LIVE (+, RED) wire and the NEGATIVE (-, BLACK) wire of the 12V adpater. Works fine like that.

Yes, it is pretty simple. Reference this to remove the panel:

I have an 08 550i and hardwired my radar over Christmas. The green/yellow wire in the bundle going to the mirror is 12V switched. I had problems getting a reliable conection with the supplied crimp connector, so I used a box cutter to cut the insulation to ensure a good connection. Another trick is to cut the circular ground connection ring on the hardwire so it becomes a "fork" so to speak. Then you don't have to completely remove the difficult to access frame screw, you just loosen it, slide the modified forked connector under the screw head and retighten.
Hope this helps.

My Ride: 06' 550i
I just wired up my V1 yesterday on my 06' 550i and just ran the cord along the top of the windshield inside the flap and down the right pillar to the 12V underneath the passenger seat deep by the feet. You can't even tell it's there and required no wiring up.
Just my thoughts though.
