Replacing rear and windshield rubber trim.
Replaced the rear window seal and the top seal on the windshield today on my 2005 E60. The rear is very easy to do. The windshield was a little tougher to do. It required a lot more effort to get the channel around the glass. Not sure if it's thicker or if there was less space to maneuver the trim in place. The windshield replacement trim has a bead of sealant in the channel that compresses against the edge of the windshield. The rear seal does not use any sealant.

The ESC tuning site where most are purchasing the rear window top and side replacement seal has two versions of this seal available. One version is for models with rear comfort glass, Protective Glazing, or safety glass. My question is how do know which type of rear glass do you have? Are these rear window types a special order item or did they come standard with one of the package options (I.e., sport pkg, cold weather pkg, Premium pkg)? Thanks.

Here's someone else who isn't very handy at all and just installed both front and rear trims in 45 minutes including the removal of the old ones and the cleaning process. Piece of cake doesn't quite describe how easy this is. I actually did use a screwdriver (carefully, of course), Windex and paper towel for the cleaning and a flat plastic to push the rear trim in and towards the glass (very important). That was it.
