WOW! This is an amazing resolution to an annoying problem!!! My BMW tech said "it's normal" on every BMW as they get older. To hell with that! My 12 yrs old Lexus never had a rattle even when I sold it. I've noticed that the noises stops after I wash the car and clean the seals but after so many dirty miles, the noises comes back. I'll try the vaseline on the next car wash. So do you put it on all the rubber seals or just the top seal on the door? And how bad is the dirt collection once this is done? just curious... Thanks for the suggestion though...doesn't take a "BMW" tech to problem solve this issue...

Tried this today. It reduced the noise for me by 50% but did not stop it. The felt bit on the seal is now has a slimy feel to it.

You can disregard the above message.

One week on, the noise has gone and the vaseline has absorbed into the felt and no longer feels like slime. This solution does work, but for me it took 24 hours for the full effect.

Dealer applied to 2 of my cars at no cost. I suspect a little searching and one should be able to order similar tape.
