Fix: Midrange speakers buzzing at low frequencies
The rear shelf speakers in my E60 developed a loud buzz at low frequencies. They are the early Logic7 midrange (part # 65136930903). I believe this same speaker is in the doors as well, but it was only the rear shelf units that were buzzing (maybe the issue is related to their orientation, or to more heat from the sun).
I found out that they both had their damper, also known as "spider", separated from the frame. My fix was to apply silicone on the circumference to reattach it. (Glue might work too, but I thought it would get too rigid).
I don't notice any change in the sound. This BMW "Top Hi-Fi" system from 2004 is better than anything I have heard in a car, including 2018 top-of-the-line systems.
Part number 65136930903 "Top-hifi MID-range loudspeaker" from 24 Feb 2003 to 15 Freb 2007. Superseded by 65139143121.
