Hi,

I have now added the L7 tweeters in the front and rear, installed SWS-8 subs under the seats and a pair of blaupunkt pnp amps. The result now sounds really superb. However, the biggest gain came from just fitting the front L7 tweeters driven from the standard head unit. This alone gave 80% of the improvement.

Are you able to add the rear tweeters, as well as the front tweeters, and power them
through the head unit?

Yes, I did just that before buying and adding the amps. The rear speakers have a socket to accept the tweeter just like the front ones do. It's all plug and play. The tweeters add very little extra loading for the head unit.

However, some say tweeters at the back are a bad idea. That they corrupt the stereo image and pull the soundstage back and it is better to have all the high frequencies up front "on the dash". Personally, I prefer the sound all around you.

Thanks for replying. Sounds like a cheap mod with good results.

Time to buy some tweeters!

Don't think you will regret it. well you might half way through removing the door cards. It's a bit scary pulling your pride and joy apart but the result is worth it. Best of luck.

That's what I am worried about - hopefully the DIYs here will be spot on.

Dieseltouring,

I am also adding the tweeters in front, and I will install the L7 doorspeakers instead of standard. Just bought a pair on Ebay

What I have not really decided , is whether or not to install a Pnp blaupunkt amp.

Just out of curiousity: Which type did you install, and how easy is install?
Secondly, how is your setup, how much channels are you using?
Where did you buy it, since it is out of production?
Thanks,

Rik
