One question, you added the tweeters to the standard 6 speaker e60 system, so they are running off the head unit? or did you install an amp too ???
You don't need to add an amp.

So its cheaper to buy them seperately than as a pair? or is it 91.56 incl vat,
is it possible to retrofit the Logic & option in the Idrive?

BMW do love their expensive parts, but the Logic 7 (Top HiFi) tweeters are ?39.81 +VAT each, ?91.56 for the pair. Or at least that is what I paid. Sorry to create confusion and give you a heart attack!

The tweeters plug into some spare connectors on the door speakers so why would an amp be needed? I've added the tweeters but no amp and it sounds so much better than standard.
Was thinking of adding an amp but not sure I can be bothered.

hmmmm i have not added the amp yet which is for speakers, not subs

Added the tweeters and you are right, sound better and clear ..... but i have noticed due to the lift in the sound stage, the mid-bass speakers are not producing decent enough bass

in my opinion i think the subs upgrade would be next but that would require a much powerful amp obviously in the boot

I don't like the sound of this (in calculated terms).

The BMW HU is designed to run a 2 ohm configuration on each channel.

The way they have done this in Std EU system in the rear is to parallel up the two 4 ohm mid and tweeter and in the front the mid and the bass (under seat). By adding another 4 ohm tweeter in parallel you have just decreased the effective resistance to 1.3333 ohms. 2 ohm amps run hot enough a 1.33 ohm sounds like trouble.

The HiFi system uses two tweeter mid combinations and the subs are run off another amp - thus still maintaining the 2 ohm specification.

If I were you I would now hurry up with disconnecting the subs and running them off another amp and maybe you can install some rear door speakers too and run that off the same amp.

No, not according to my calculations. The port is spare only because BMW use the same part for for the Hi-Fi and the normal Std EU Mid range speakers. But the moment you plug that spot you are going to drop the effective resistance on the speaker lines. Ofcourse as mentioned if you disconnect the under floor woofers then your OK again.

If that were the case ...... the radio would cut out every atleast 5 mins ..... right :S

i added the tweeters, the sound is much clearer now ..... i can play it at a higher volume ..... 2 hours worth driving, did not cut out even once ..... nor have i experienced any fuse issue

btw i think the logic 7 tweeters are 2ohm .. not 4ohm .. not too sure about this though

so according to your calculation .... i am running on ???? ohm ??????..... i.e. if they really are 2 ohm

The L7 tweeter is definately 4 ohms - there is a sticker behind it that states that.

I'm sure it works and I'm pretty damn sure it sounds great too, I cannot believe BMW choose not to put tweeters in the front. I'm only saying that the HU was not designed for the configuration you are running.

P.S. If your tweeter was 2 ohms then your over-all would be 1 ohm!! Even worse...
