It takes quite some time to figure out how to do this mod so for someone to post a DIY is unlikely. So far I think my530i and myself are the only ones offering this kit.

Hi Hobe,
I have a 2005 E60 M5 steering wheel which im trying to retrofit onto my E60 530d msport.
At this stage i dont want to connect the paddles but just want the steering to fit! I find that the cut outs are slightly smaller on the M5 wheel making it difficult for the airbag connector and MF connector to fit plus the wheel doesnt sit all the way! Please advise on what i need to change to make this happen. Im in the UK in Surrey, Epsom.

Steering wheel mounting point and electronics were changed in 09/2005.

@ Antti - My car was manufactured/registered Nov 2005 - the steering wheel is also from a 2005 model! not sure which month but mine and the M5 have the start button which i know was also the switch over in late 2005. So it seems the steering wheel could be from an earlier 2005 as all M5's had the start button from when they 1st came into production right? I have managed to get this steering wheel on but not all the way on with both the connectors behind the wheel rather than through the cut-outs on the wheel! The steering now when driving doesnt auto centre but stays in whichever direction of driving. Pls advise on what could be causing this?

Thanks - ok now i see the differences! So i have M5 steering wheel pre-09/2005 and my current sports steering wheel is a post-09/2005.
Now how can i make the pre-09/2005 steering wheel fit post-09/2005? is it a case of just changing the slip ring for a pre-09/2005 and if so how do i go about knowing which part no this will be to match steering wheel - also will all this be plug and play?
your advice is much appreciated
