And if your car is running hotter than normal, you would have to start looking into other factors besides the thermostat such as a faulty waterpump not circulating the coolant. I highly doubt that you have a thermostat issue though.

my i drive setting is set on 4 red bars. ive heard there are 2 thermostats..?? can anyone comfirm that for me? i have a 04' 545i

well there is 2 thermostats.. number 6 in the image is the one i ordered which was faulty and number 14 is considered a thermostat as well. not sure what 14 does but its labeled as a thermostat.
maybe someone could shed some light??
