I found by mistake it was bleeding and I had changed it ASAP with a new one, bought from a home boiler installations shop.

My Ride: BMW 2008 525d SE 3.0
Changed both on Saturday took about 3 hours but that was with plenty of brews .
Everything went okay used new one ring reset errors on diagnostic and travelled to work 25 miles and it was up around the 88c to 90c
No new dpf errors Come up and it was doing it after 5 mind before.

Hi.
Don't know if this thread is still active, but after all this reading I am still uncertain if I need to do some programming after replacing the dpf on my 525 XD (2008)? I bought a new one on ebay (could probably have rinsed, but ...) and plan to remove the old and put in the new by myself. Will try to take some pictures for documentation.

Once gutted, it will run fine...null warning lights etc, but it should be remapped and at same time they will stop the re-gen process. This said ,i've run mine for a while now without tweaking my map, regen kicks in as can hear the note change a touch - its going in soon! Touch wood

Thanks for replying, and forgive my ignorance, but "but it should be remapped and at same time they will stop the re-gen process" - can you explain this? Is remapping something I can do myself, or do I need special tool/sw etc.?

Yes, you will need to get the regen cycle mapped out (turned off), this is usually done at the same time as remapping the car. Most folk will hand over the car to a tuning company. 50-60bhp is usually gained from turbo diesels with bags of torque so best bang for buck performance mod you can have done too

nilskarbo; Did you mean you are replacing the old DPF with a newer one, and the new one hasn't been emptied out? If this is the case, I think jinsta understood you wrong. I'm pretty sure you don't have to program anything if you change the DPF.

Indeed, if your not gutting the can...then you dont have to re-program anything. Its a straight swap out. You may need a diognostics tool to reset the inspection date (but might be able to perform from the car menu too, havent tried)

My Ride: e60 almost full option
Hello
I have a 525d from 2006 and since 1 year the oil level in sump is increasing with 1,5 l at 5000 km.
I changed the high pressure pump, i verified the injectors and now i am at the DPF.
The measured values are
18 mbar at idle
64 mbar at 2000 rpm
123 mbar at cut off
Durring running i saw vallues up to 300 mbar even 400 mbar. Is it normal to have those values or the DPF is not, or the back-pressure sensor is not good.
The car is making regeneration at each 400-450 km 10-15 minutes. The car made two regenerations in one day at diference of 30 km. My question is why?
No errors on Service(90 000 left with this DPF) and the car is running ok, no loss of power.
After the regeneration the ECU is asking again " Regeneration in DDE requested". This is normal?
Any advice is welcomed.
