Naw man. they are never on too long even if they did get really hot. HID is very different than halogen in the way light is produced.

Good to know ... brighter back up bulbs would really help me see what my PDC is beeping at! Though I'm not too interested in the remote switch even if it would get tailgaters to back off! Back in the 80s I had a VW Quantum w/5spd manual and moving the gearshift over to the reverse gate (though not actually shifting into reverse gear) would switch on the reverse lights - came in handy sometimes!

Haha, in tune of that, I actually saw a site selling some kind of LED license plate mount with the very purpose of lighting up people behind you, lol.

Edit: found it http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/L...-p7516915.html

Hi Bud,

Firstly.. AWESOME MOD!!!! and i was pointed in this direction from a friend...

Sorry to bring an old post back... But just a couple of questions

i have a pre lci 335i... Do we have the same bulbs???

What is the actual HID Bulb size that fits into the reverse enclosure?

Would a regular HID Kit work without errors?

Does this specific kit throw any errors? if not.. why?

I want to install this myself, but as others have said... it is a little beyond me... So i would get my garage to do it...

For yearly MOT Test reasons (based in london), could i pull the hid out and place the stock bulb in for those events?

Best,

Josh

Hi,

Regarding MOT test in London (UK) - you don't need to take the HID reverse bulb out for MOT test as I already had my done twice and it passed succesfully every time with HID reverse lights.
Great mod and light output is fantastic compare to normal bulb.

Thank you for getting back to me.

That is useful to know! One less thing to worry about.

I am just curious... I will be having these professionally fitted. I will be using a regular 35W HID H3 kit.

I know it will throw errors, so i was going to have the bulb checks turned off...

Would this be enough to prevent errors? or will further resistors be required to install this on a 2007 335i e92 coupe?

Many thanks

Josh
